Affiliation
Cherokee Rose Garden Club is a member of The Augusta Council of Garden Clubs, The Azalea District, The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc., The Deep South Region, and The National Garden Club.
Meetings
Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m.
Membership
Membership in Cherokee Rose Garden Club is limited to 25 active members. This is so that members can meet comfortably in homes.
Attendance
Members are asked to support the club with regular attendance and active participation in projects and activities. Members who miss 3 consecutive meetings withough a valid excuse will be dropped from the roster.
Dues
Club membership dues are $25 for active members and $30 for sustaining members. The club sends $7 per member to the Garden Club of Georgia and $20 per year to the Augusta Council of Garden Clubs. Dues are collected in January for the following fiscal year. This allows the treasurer to mail dues prior to the state deadline.
Officers
Officers serve a two-year term, are nominated by a nomination committee and elected by club members.
Monthly door prize
Members are asked to donate $1 for a door prize drawing. The winner brings a $5 gift to the next meeting for the door prize. Entering your name in the drawing is optional. This small contribution allows the club to raise money for projects, donations and speakers' gifts without having to raise dues or sell items. Your donation is voluntary.
New members
A member in good standing invites a prospective member to attend 2 meetings. The member must first notify the hostess to make sure there is room for her guest. After attending 2 meetings, the member sends a signed letter nominating the guest for membership. It should include the date and the applicant's name, address, phone number, and E-mail address, and be signed by 2 other active members. If an opening is not available, the prospective member is placed on the waiting list in the order received. Vacancies for active membership are filled from the waiting list, with preference given to Sustaining Members who wish to return to active status.
